Barry M Nail Pens!

Hey Beauts,

One of my favourite things to do is just walk around Boots and look at all the products. When I come across something new, its always exciting to see what it claims to do or what novelty it has to pull people in to buy them. We all know how much I love nail polish and nail art and so this product was very interesting to me and right up my street, Nail Art Pens.

I picked up the standard black and white as I thought they would be the most useful and versatile, however they also came in Pink, blue and Silver. At £4.99 it is still quite cheap, but more on the expensive end as far as Barry M is concerned. As you can see above, I had a little fun playing around with these pens, seeing how well they worked, what the opacity was like, the thickness of the pens and whatnot. It was definatly enjoyable and I loved playing around with the novelty factor with these pens - I definatly didn't have enough fingers on my hands!

So as with the majority of nail polishes, one stroke of this could not achieve full opacity (no matter how much I tried) even though the black did do a better job than the white pen. When trying to achieve lovely details, I feel as though this would be an issue, especially when trying to achieve a thin line as the more you would go over the line, the thicker the line would become. One thing I did love about these pens was the fact that curved lines were really easy to do and the pens were really easy to control. On top of that, the formula came out a lot better than I was expecting and I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised by these pens!

I will have to try out some actual nail art looks with these pens and post the results on here for you to see sometime in the future as I cannot wait to play some more with the pens! Have you ever tried these out or do you own any of the other colours? Are their formulas as nice as the black and white pens? Let me know your thoughts below in the comments. If you aren't already and do not want to miss out on future posts, remember to follow on GFC and BlogLovin' to join in on all the fun.

Nail Polish Haul!

Hey Beauts,

So I'm not quite sure if every university has this, but at Derby they have little stalls in the main hub of the building and from time to time they have a make-up / nail polish stall. Being a sucker for reduced priced products I always get dragged over and end up with a little something in my hands. So here is a mini haul of what I picked up this time!

Now there is a slight story behind Mavala nail polish as when I was younger and my mum used to buy them, she would always tell me that I wasn't allowed to use that brand of her nail polish as it was super expensive and a treat for herself. So obviously it is now stuck in my head as being a very high end product. So when I saw Mavala nail polishes on this stand for £2 each I thought 'get in!' and picked up these three shades in 335 Pacific Blue, 176 Racing Green and 202 Music Hall which was especially for my mum as she loves a good red nail polish. I also picked up this beautiful red Revlon nail polish for mummabear too, but unfortunatly the writing had all been rubbed off, so I don't exactly know what colour it is, but when I opened it, there was no nail polish around the lid of the bottle so I could tell it hadn't been used before. It has super fine gold shimmers in though and was especially gorgeous knowing it was only £3!

Next up I picked some Rimmel polishes (from left to right) Space Dust - Shooting Star, 60 Seconds - Out of the Blue, Precious Stones - Diamond Dust and 60 Seconds - Green with Envy. I love anything blue or glittery and sparkling on my finger nails as it is such a pretty colour to look at :) Green with Envy was actually bought for nostalgia purposes as it was the first nail polish I purchased with my own money. These again were £2 each and such a bargain! I just couldn't resist!

I hope you all enjoyed this mini nail polish haul. What kind of colours do you like to wear on your nails and what makes you smile when you glance at them? Comment below to let me know and I will customise future nail polish tutorials to your favourite colours. Face of the Night! 25/01/2014

Hey Beauts,

So today I bring you a photo from a couple of nights ago before I went out clubbing!
On my skin I have used MAC Mineralize foundation SPF15 in NW15, MAC Prolongwear concealer in NW20, Rimmel Stay Matte powder in 003 Peach Glow and the blush I used is by No7 and is one from a make-up palette that doesn't tell the shades of things, but any soft pink would give the same look.

On my lips is MAC Brave Red (As always).

On my eyes I started by using sellotape on the outer edge of my eyes to create a straight edge on the outside of my eyes. I have used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze as a base, I then used Black-Out from the Naked 2 palette on the outer edge of my eyes and brought it through my crease. I then blended a little bit of Half-Baked into the center of my eye and put Stange from the Naked 3 palette into the the inner corner of my eye and under my brows as a highlight. I smudged a bit of this under my inner lower lash line and then Black-Out under the outer lower lash line. I finished my eyes by using the Rimmel Scandaleyes Precision Micro eyeliner on my lid as close to the lashes as possible to thicken my lash line and used L'oreal Telescopic mascara on my top and bottom lashes.

My hair is just curled using the Remmington Pearl Hair Wand and then sprayed with L'oreal Elnett Extra Strength Flexible Hold hairspray (What a mouthful) and finished off by running my hands through to loosen the curls and soften them up a bit.

I hope you enjoyed this look/photo! It was the first time I've ever incorporated sellotape into a make-up look and I think it turned out alright. I never really wear my make-up this bold either so for one of the first attempts at trying something like this out, I'm quite proud of myself! Do you usually wear bold make-up like this? If so, write a blog post and show me! I'd love to see what you create and remember as always to follow on GFC so you don't miss out on any of my posts! <3
